Problems with my Video card
Hey yall.
OK, so when I start to play something like a game, it runs very smoothly for about a minute, then gets really slow. I just recently updated my vid. card driver to fix a TINY issue, and now all my stuff just runs like crap. Can't roll back my driver (cause vista's a *****), or find ANY solution to this problem. I am about to freak. The genius that made m card decided to make a fan on top of a heatsink; seems like a good idea, right? well they made the fan out of plastic, and about a month after getting my new "high end computer", the fan melted off, So I found an old heatsink and put it onto my vid card. sure, my computer completely blacks out after about 45 mins of gameplay, but I'm relatively fine with that. I don't really care. Tried to put in my old vidcard, but it doesn't fit. Seriously. freaking out here. Any help? |

Re: Problems with my Video card
It sounds like your PSU is too weak for the card upgrade. What make/model is it?
Enter your full system specs into this power calculator and set Capacitor Aging to 25%. Click the Calculate button, then add 30% to the total to allow for PSU inefficiency. Post back with this figure and the PSU label details. Check your temperatures and PSU voltages in BIOS, then use SpeedFan to monitor them during fullscreen gameplay. Also, monitor the graphics card temperature with the nvidia ntune control panel. Post back with the BIOS, SpeedFan and ntune sets of readings. How many case fans do you have and how are they positioned? Are they all free of dust and spinning?
