video card causing trouble

hello,

I bought a used computer in April and it worked fine until yesturday when i recieved my new AGP graphics card. Its a XP, and the mother board must be of age as it has no PCI-E slots. The card is a ATI x800XT PE, with a Zalman fan put on it. I bought it second hand.

So, i replaced my old ATI 9250 with the new card and it seemed to work fine. I really only bought the card to play Stalker and BF2 as i use my computer for strictly music production, i have no internet, very basic set-up.
I was happily playing Stalker when the computer overheated, i assume, and crashed. I just left it until the moring before i turned it back on.
I looked into the problem by searching in google, and i got my brother to post my problem on another forum. It turns out i only have 250 watt power and i need at least 300-350watts.

So i decided it would be safer to uninstall the x800XT and put the old 9250 back in for the time being.
I plugged it all back in and the screen wouldnt turn on.
I've read that heaps of people have had a similar problem with the screen not booting up. Im pretty sure it has to be Video card problem because it is all that i have changed recently. Although i did put in a new PCI 5.1 sound card in about 1 and a half weeks ago i don't think that has affected my situation.

I plugged the computer into another monitor to see if it was a monitor problem, but that didnt load either. So its not the monitor.

Im quite new to computers, so please keep your suggestions simple.
Im on the verge of killing someone i think, please, does anyone know whats wrong?? Or have Suggestions??

I do not know all my Specs but i have:
1gig of ram
80 gig hard drive + external Hardrive

It worked fine until now?

Welcome to tsf. Does the x800 work still if you install it or is that black aswell now? You might need to reinstall the x800 and remove its drivers , then install the old card.

Well i installed it and it worked fine, but once i realised i needed a new PSU i uninstalled it put in the old card, and now i get the blank screen. I can hear the computer running normally i think, but the screen just gets no signal???

When i push the buttons on the monitor it just says Going to Sleep and the light turns Amber.

Try reinstaling the x800 and remove its drivers then install the old card.

My monitor is just black, so i cant uninstall anything because i cant see anything. Ive tried another monitor and its deffinatly not a monitor problem.

Put the x800 into the pc then try to get video , then uninstall it. Then put the old card back in.

Does the x800 work still if you install it or is that black aswell now?
