Monitor only works once connected AFTER windows starts up!? HELP
I bought new components from EBuyer for a totaly new computer. my friends (who build computers) put it all together, and plugged the monitor in. All ran fine, we played a game, all went fine. I took the new PC home, plugged it in my monitor... no signal... THIS is where the problems started....(i'll try and keep it short n sweet)
After alot of faffing around, I bought a different graphics card (apparently better)... we reinstalled windows XP pro s3 and started from scratch again, even reformatted harddrive... still bought the pc home and no signal. I bought a new monitor... no signal... I tried my sisters monitor... no signal....but you can hear windows starting fine in the background So... again after alot of faffing around... I found the ONLY way I can get a signal to the monitor is to - Start the computer without the monitor cable connected... wait a while while it boots... then connect the monitor cable... and windows is there! BTW: I've tried a different cable, a different DVI-VGA adaptor... still same issue. i'm sure i've left bits out, just to make the explanation shorter. but you can see my frustration. A Brand new computer and components and I cant use it properly... My friends had built almost an identical computer only a week before and everything ran perfectly... is this just my luck!! hahaha.... any help pleaseeee... here is my spec: PC Spec: Motherboard: ASUS P5K AiLifestyle Series iP35 Socket 775 eSATA 8channel Audio ATX Motherboard Chip: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Socket 775 (2.66GHz) FSB1333 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor Memory/RAM: Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-18) Heat Spreader DVD/CD: Liteon DH-20A4H-09C 20x DVDRW/DL LightScribe Beige Harddrive: Seagate ST3160815AS 160GB Hard Drive 7200RPM SATAII/300 8MB Cache - OEM Graphics Card: Sapphire HD Radeon 4850 Video Card PCI Express x16 2.0 512MB DDR3 Video Card 100-242L) Monitors: 1) LG LCD/TV 19LS4D 2) Samsung 19" monitor ***** I will try to use this forum properly, but like i said at the beginning i'm new to all this :) thanks for your time, fingers crossed someone knows whats going on! :) Xantia Divine Last edited by chauffeur2 : 07-06-2008 at 08:32 PM.
