SETUP:
Windows XP, SP2 CPU: Athlon 64 x2 6000+ Windsor Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe RAM: 2x 1gb Kingston DDR2 400Mhz Graphic: ASUS EN9800GTX Monitor: Samsung 2232BW PSU: Enermax 560W TV: Philips 37PFL7603D I have recently changed my old ASUS 8600GT with the 9800GTX; I have my 22" LCD Monitor connected to the first DVI-out (DVI-DVI Cable 1,5 meters) and my 37" LCD TV connected to the second DVI-out (DVI-HDMI Cable, 10 meters). All drivers installed and OK; Nview configured for desktop extension on second monitor. Monitor set to 1680x1050 60Hz and TV set to 1920x1080 60Hz (both are on native resolution). Display is perfect on both Monitor and TV, but here is the problem: the TV becomes black every 2/3 seconds, and show the error "No signal" or "Wrong format". But, I remarks again, when the image is visible, it is perfect. The same setup worked perfectly with the old 8600GT. The only changed thing is the new 9800GTX. I also tried to reinstall drivers, but the problem is not there. Already tried 3/4 versions (Forceware 175.19 and 177.39 the latest). If I swap the cables on DVI-out connectors, nothing change, the problem is always on the TV, and Monitor is fine, so it's not a bad soldering on the graphic card connectors or something like that. The 9800GTX has the two 6-pin power cables connected, from PSU, and shows green led. Even if with 8600GT was OK, I think the problem may be the cable too long (10 meter) or low quality. But I have to remark another strange issue: when the TV is ON, and set on the HDMI-PC input, my PC have the mouse that "jumps", so the arrow movement in not smooth: I move the mouse slowly and the arrow follow the path, but jumping every 1/2 centimeter. In this situation, I have seen that I have a process running, NVSVC32.EXE, that goes up to 40/50% CPU, then goes to 0%, then again, up and down, up and down; memory used also goes up and down. When my TV is off, NVSVC32.EXE use 0% CPU and 4736Kb of memory, fixed. Any Idea ? I wish to try to change the cable with a better one, but it's a cost, and I'm wondering if it may cause the NVSVC32.EXE issue ! Thanks if someone will help !! Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
The NVSVC32.EXE is a process to do with the NVidia drivers, so from your observations of CPU usage, I presume that they are the problem. Perhaps you could downgrade to an older version of the graphics card drivers?
Another thing could be that this card is quite power thirsty and may need a more powerful PSU. That is a common response to graphics card trouble... and you PSU may be faulty if your screen goes dud after a while. Try putting the old 8600 back in and see if it still works okay? Hope this helps, David. Last edited by Decane : 07-07-2008 at 12:10 PM. |

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
Thankfor your answer;
If I put back my 8600GT all work well, as before the upgrade. Just an update: After one hundred attempts I've found that if I set my Philips TV to 1600x900, the image is stable. Curious, I had already tried resolutions lower that 1920x1080 (720p for example) without success.... Also, at this resolution the NVSVC32 problem is gone. Now I'm quite sure that this is a driver issue, I've found other people with problem with 9800GTX and Nvidia drivers (not exactly my problem, but like it) ...but I suspect I have to wait for Nvidia... or buy a Radeon. |

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
Hi ginosergio
If you can post your voltages and temps here's a link to speedfan lets see what they look like. A 550w is a little lite for a 9800 card. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

I have tried almost everything (reinstall windows, different display timings and so on) but nothing seems to work. Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this? |

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
David, I confirm, It's the driver. Anyway, I've also tried every driver that support the 9800gx2 but nothing change. It's curious that my old card (that works perfectly with any driver) is a 8600 GT (same chip as your). Mine is Asus EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/256M/A
Well, here is my solution for the problem with the 9800gx2: I've bought a Radeon 4870. ByeBye Nvidia... . |

I have my old system running next to the TV as an additional system, but if the 8600GT is not working then it is useless. The default windows drivers do not get near the native 1980x1080 resolution of my LCD TV and they are very slow. I dont want to buy a radeon, I want nvidia to fix this problem... ![]() |

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
Thanks for letting us know, but no one reported using that LCD TV. I also have a philips, the philips 37pfl9732d, which supports full hd 1980x1080p. Would it be foolish to wait for nvidia to fix this issue? or should I start looking at a radeon as replacement for my 8600GT?

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
Here's a random thought for the wind
the HDMI adapter that caame with my 9800GTX is only single link DVI to HDMI. Might hi-res "true" HDMI require dual link adaptation?

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
Since it worked fine with my old nvidia 6800 and I am using exactly the same cables and adapters, this is not the source of the problem. Using the nvidia drivers, even when I run on 640x480 I get the problem. So it is clearly a driver problem...using the default windows drivers solves the problem, but then it is slow and you dont get the maximum resolution out: 1980x1080p, which is the resolution I was able to get with my old 6800.

Re: 9800GTX and LCD TV weird problem !
David, I am absolutely with you. I also have written my problem in a dozen forums. Someone say that problem may be the 10 meters low quality cable, someone say that my PSU is not enough (Enermax 565) and so on. But I see that with exactly the same things (PC, PSU, Cable, TV, etc) my 8600 work well, while the 9800 has the TV signal that goes on and off every 2/3 seconds.
And now, with the new Radeon, that need quite the same power as the 9800GTX, everything works well, monitor and TV at full HD 1920x1080. Gorgeus and fast. What I can say is that this problem is not easy. I think that is driver related, but also has to do with the other PC components, all together. In fact, I have an 8600 that works, and you have an 8600 with the problem. And I think that many guys has also a 9800GTX that works, with TV without problems. I did not expect Nvidia to fix this soon. I bought the 9800 used, and I hope to sell it for the same price, or a couple of $ less. Not a problem. Good luck Ser |
