9800 GX2 problem.
I had this problem awhile back, and I know other people have had this problem too. No matter what driver I install the games always act like the card is not suited for them. My old 7600 GS works better than this card in some games. And even if it does run well, if you exit the game then get back into it or another, then get into the previous game it will lag horribly, not with the ping but as if the card is far too obsolete to play it. I've had this problem for some time now, but I may get more answers as the card has been out for more then a month.

Re: 9800 GX2 problem.
Hello to you too. I'm not terribly sure where I would find a list of my specs on Vista, still dunno all it's features. Would someone kindly tell me?
However I can tell you that I have 4 gigabytes of ram, A Intel Quad Core CPU at 2.6 ghz, and a power supply at I think..700 or 800 watts. Last edited by ThePutty : 07-05-2008 at 03:25 AM. |

Re: 9800 GX2 problem.
It's an Antec 650 watt. That should be plently for the GX2. Also, the machine is constantly cool. I've opened up the case and felt next to no heat coming off anything. I left it on overnight, and almost all day and by the time it came to night again it was still very cool. I think it's the drivers, and Vista personally, but I don't know exactly.

Re: 9800 GX2 problem.
Your PSU is far too week to support such a powerful graphics card. Which is why all your games are struggling. You may see a similar performance from your Old 7600 because that was a low end Graphics card. Your PSU is now trying to run a card that is 5-10 times more powerful than the 7600.
Failure to get an adequate PSU for the 9800GX2 (Or any other hardware) can result in Physical hardware damage (Which is not covered by warranty), and the possibility of your PSU Exploding due to the amount of stress its put under.

Re: 9800 GX2 problem.
Just look at the link i gave you http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce...wr_supply.html and see if your local shop sells a Power Supply that has a tick under the 9800GX2 column.
