Probloms with startup
Hello,
hope I'm posting this on the right section of the forums. Anyway a little while ago i was having problems with my computer, it was acting kinda buggy. So i decided to reformat/install xp Everything seemed to be going fine while windows was installing. If i remember right it asked me to restart my computer at some point near the end of the installation. Thats when my problem begin. I couldn't get a monitor signal, it would just look like the computer was on stand by. I rechecked all my cables, made sure the monitor was working by hooking it up into another pc everything checked out. My next best guess was that the video card had just died. Well i installed a new one and the same problem - no signal - everything else seems to be working fine all lights, fans and hard drive seem to be working. It doesn't' beep at all on start up. Just the whole no signal thing. My next guess is that its the mother board or the video port itself but nothing seems to be damaged at all. lol anyway thats my long winded problem. I'm really hoping you guys can think of something that I've missed cause frankly I'm out of ideas...... Thank you in advance for any help or ideas you can come up with. |

Re: Probloms with startup
Don't know if this will help or not, but I think, for the sake of smarter posters than I, you should put up the specs of your system/monitor, and what card you're using.
Not too long ago my son's system needed a new video card, and a new one was furnished under warranty. When we installed it, there was no signal to the LCD, just as you describe. When we called the system builder to complain (LOL), he told us the signal for the LCD couldn't be read until the proper drivers were installed. We needed to use an old CRT in order to see anything. Once installed, downloading the drivers was easy enough, then we hooked up the LCD and all was well. I'm not totally sure I understand why we did what we did, but it did work out. Perhaps, your situation is the same. I'm curious to know, if there is a better way of installing the new card than what we had to do, what the method is. Dragging out that old CRT beast was a PITA. ![]() |

Re: Probloms with startup
wow i never thought of that.
The only monitor i have is a lCD also... I'll have to try to get my hands on a old CRT monitor so i can try that out. If it helps at all i have a Envison LCD flat screen monitor and a Visiontek Radeon HD 4850 video card btw thank you very much for the help |
