[SOLVED] Blank Screen Periodically
I bought a new 22" monitor from Samsung. I have it plugged in to DVI. At the recommended resolution I get a "not recommended mode" sign put out by the monitor. The screen then proceeds to go completely black every once in a while. At lower resolutions the screen does not give a message, but does go out for a few seconds once in a while. On Analog high-res the screen just freezes then goes silver. The problem is not the monitor because I tested it on a laptop and we took one back to the store already.
One more thing: It seems to go blank more during 3D applications, which makes me thing that it is the graphics card. System Specs: HP Media Center m390n Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 plugged into AGP Intel HT Pentium 4 3.20Ghz High-res setting 1680x1050 Low-res setting (current): 1280x960 60Hz refresh rate (unchangeable) I am going to swap out the graphics card today as soon as I get it, will this solve the problem? New graphics card: His Hightech ATI HD2600 Pro Turbo IceQ Praise to whoever figures this out for me ![]() |

Re: Blank Screen Periodically
My first guess would be video card. Are your drivers uptodate?
If you go into device manager under display, does it show the 5600 card, or vga? Look in properties and check the date on the latest drivers installed...
