EEK! ATI drivers uninstall every restart

Hey all,

ive just bought a new pc and all was working fine for about two weeks, untill about 5 days ago.

For some strange reason every time i restart the PC, it keeps uninstalling the ATI graphics card drivers. Well its not really uninstalling its just saying it cant use them. See screen shot of the desktop straight after start up. And yes, it reverts to 640*480 res and 8 colors.

I've downloaded the new drivers off the ATI website. The main thing that confuses me is that it worked fine for about two weeks, then pooof.

Every time it happened, i had to re-install the drivers and restart and it booted up normally, then next time it reset it screwed up again.

So ive just not turned off my pc for 4 days now.

My system is:
AMD Phenom 9750 Quad Core (AM2) 2.4GHz
Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H Mainboard
Pioneer DVR-215 SATA DVD Re-Writer (20x/10x Dual Layer Black)
Corsair DDR2 4GB PC-6400/800 (2xXMS2 2GB) T
Card Reader 8 in 1 Internal USB - Black
Asus EAH3870X2-3DHTI-1G RADEON 3870X2,
Antec Nine Hundred Black Ultimate Gamer Case (No PSU)
Zalman 850W Dual Heatpipe ATX Power Supply (ZM850-HP)

Running XP SP3

Any Ideas?

Re: ATI drivers uninstall every restart

Did you install the .NET Framework and reboot before installing the latest Catalyst Control Center 8.6?

Did you fully uninstall the previous ATI driver/software and reboot to VGA or Safe Mode before updating?

Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard?

Are your motherboard chipset drivers up to date?

Some people with your problem have gone back from 8.6 to 8.4 to fix it.
