Geforce 8400 GS and Win Vista

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of a problem where after installing the Geforce 8400 GS (PCI Xpress) into an HP system, Vista doesn't show the card by name in the device manager after installing the latest 175 nvidia drivers and also upon reboot of computer shows a blank/blue-ish background screen. This problem is happening to a friend of mine and although I don't have her system specs ....I would be happy to find out and put them in a post. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks

The model of the Hp, would be very helpful. My first thought would
be. Did it come with onboard video? Is there enough power to
run the new video card? Is there a setting in bios to switch to
pci-e vs. the onboard video. Were all drivers from on board video
uninstalled.
