Re: (Resolved) direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Hi,

Update DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Is the card AGP or PCI-E?
See if there's an updated driver for the card (follow the installation instructions carefully): http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...=xp/radeonx-xp

If that doesn't help - include the system specifications in your next post.

Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Are there other problems with the card or is it only the DirectX 7 & 8 tests being "glitchy"?

DirectX 10 is for Vista only. Install the version I posted earlier.

ATI driver: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...=xp/radeonx-xp
Be sure to uninstall the old driver first and read the installation instructions carefully.

Re: [SOLVED] Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Too fast?
Is it only the DirectX tests being "funny" - not games etc?

ATI released a new video driver recently: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Re: [SOLVED] Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Are you running two 2600's in crossfire?
If so, try removing one of them.
And - you know, this might be a power problem. We need to know what PSU you have. Look at the sticker inside the case.

Use the links in post #4 for driver + installation instructions.

Re: [SOLVED] Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Look at post #3 - you say crossfire (means at least two cards).

About PSUs - it's not all about watts. Quality is more important. Look at the amps on the +12V rail. You'll need 18A for the AGP video card.

Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Reinstall the chipset driver: http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/via_h...npro_v518a.zip

What video card did you have before the 2600 Pro? Did you remove the drivers for that card?

Download Driver cleaner - don't use the program yet.
Uninstall all video driver in Control panel/Add or remove programs.
Restart Windows in Safe mode (tap F8 when the computer starts) and run Driver cleaner. Remove all video driver "remnants", if any.
Restart again, install the new driver.

Reinstall DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Re: direct3d 8 and 9 tests are glitched

Remnants = rest, leftover. Some times the uninstaller doesn't remove all parts of the driver. To get rid of the last bits you can use DriverCleaner.
