Random freezing.

Hello.

I've been experiencing issues with what appears to be my video card. At completely random, my screen will freeze either while playing a game or browsing the internet. While browsing a website the screen will freeze for a few seconds (5-10 sec.), turn black, and then recover. Websites become choppy while scrolling and overall everything appears slower. However while playing a game, the screen will freeze, turn black and 'never' recover. As a result, I have to hit the reset button. I've updated my video drivers and I still have the same issue.

System specs;

Intel P4 2.8GHz 533MHz
512MB DDR PC-400
250GB 7200RPM 8MB Cashe
Antec Sonata Case 380W
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro DDR
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
MS XP Home

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Random freezing.

I haven't tried.

Could it possibly be a VPU refresh error?
Ever since I had my hard drive replaced and new case/power supply, it's never been the same.
