Hi, I just bought a 40" Samsung LCD-TV which I keep connected to a HTPC running WinXP Pro 32-bit with SP2.
My problem is that every time I try to start the HTPC using the TV as a screen the bootup info is shown on screen, windows loading bar etc but as soon as it's done loading XP and should start displaying the desktop I get an error message on the TV saying "No signal". I'm using the HDMI jack on the graphics card and TV, nothing weird there. The only way I can get the TV to function as a screen is by connecting my PC-screen (a 20" samsung syncmaster LCD) and when in XP set the TV as the main display. When the Syncmaster is connected the TV works fine as a cloned display. The Syncmaster is connected with a DVI-cable. The graphic scard is a nVIDIA GF7300. I'm thinking that this could be resolved if I could force the HTPC to always boot with a resolution of 1280*720 which is the only res that makes the TV-picture look ok and function properly. (It's native res should be 1360*768 but that is impossible to achieve, could it be because of the old graphics card beeing unable to run such a resolution?). If anyone thinks buying a new and fairly cheap GFX will help I'm up for it but if there is another way I'd like to try that first. |
