Display Corruption - new system
Hello all,
My new Dell XPS 420 Q6600 with ATI Radeon HD 3650 and HP LP 2065 LCD monitor 1600X1200 60Hz (2 months old) has shown from the machine's first boot intermittent display corruption: wavering green/magenta pixilation, display shift to and fro, vertical lines - mostly green. The problem can be sufficiently severe to force safe mode boot. The earliest the distortions can be seen on start-up is just prior to the Microsoft copyright screen depicting the green vertical rectangles moving left to right in the horizontal bar. Problem never seen in safe mode. Problem is lessened in severity by reducing the resolution. Problem vanishes by briefly turning off the monitor. It often reappears on waking from sleep mode or restarts. I have reseated the video card and RAM. I have changed the DVI cord. and reinstalled drivers...no effect. Actually, I get the infamous 80070005 error (access denied) on trying to install the HP monitor driver, resulting in an error. I have not been able to fix this problem. The HP monitor has worked fine on different computers. My Dell runs the Dell monitor (which shipped with the system )fine (but, it is lesser resolution). The HP Monitor does fine on self test. Tech help have not solved problem, although the ATI tech suspected Card Video RAM. I have a week left on the warranty. I like the Dell and would like to keep it. Right now I am mostly interested in reliable focus on the cuplrit: Card?, Monitor? Dell hardware?, Vista?, drivers? Any help much appreciated. Carl |

Re: Display Corruption - new system
pixelisation is mainly caused by bad video ram on the card
reinstall the drivers disable a/virus while doing the install use the version of drivers that came with the card as they are usually reliable
