Horizontal lines on monitor when coming out of stand by...

I don't know what it might be. A friend told me that it's my video card. What happens is after a while after my monitor goes to Stand By, give it about 30 minutes, then I move the mouse to get the monitor out of stand by, the screen comes to. But within a few seconds you'll start to see light red or light pinkish lines that are running horizontal. Sometimes it's really bad and other times there are just very little lines. At times the screen gets dark and filled with those lines then goes normal after that....

I don't know what it can really be. I'm on Vista with a video card, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000, that doesn't support the Aero feature. I think that might be the problem...

Anything that might help me answer my issue?

Re: Horizontal lines on monitor when coming out of stand by...

I don't know how to get the power supply part or wattage. And how do I get the bios temp?

CPU: 2GHz AMD Semperon
Video Card: "NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000" 128 MB
M/B I think is for motherboard: "Mb manufacturer name: ASUS A7V8X-LA" "HP/Compaq name: Kelut-GL6E"
Brand: Compaq Presario SR1303WM

Re: Horizontal lines on monitor when coming out of stand by...

your board is probably made before the temp sensors were included on the m/b
look at the label on the side of the psu
can you try the card on another computer to see if it's the same
