EVGA 8800GT display aspect ratio incorrect??

Hi,

I just built a new computer and now it seems that my monitor aspect ratio is incorrect. Basically, the edges of the screen seem "squished" horizontally and the middle of the screen seems slightly "stretched" horizontally. It's almost as if it's trying to display a widescreen image on a 4:3 monitor.

Equipment: Video card: EVGA 8800GT, Monitor: Samsung 900NF, OS: Win XP Pro SP3.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Then change the resolution the monitor runs at to a 4:3 resolution. In display properties/setting tab.

Re: EVGA 8800GT display aspect ratio incorrect??

Whoops, I should have said, it is running at 1024 x 768, which IS a 4:3 resolution. That's why I thought I was having a problem.

However, based on your suggestion, I simply tried a few other 4:3 resolutions, such as 1152 x 864, and the problem went away.

I still don't understand WHY 1024 x 768 will not display correctly, but since it is working correctly at 1152 x 864, thanks!

I haven't tried this yet, but I will. But, if it is running in widescreen, then wouldn't ALL 4:3 resolutions not work? Some of them seem to work just fine.
