Help: New PC plays video/music way too fast
Hi All,
I only build custom systems about once every 4 years. I just built a system with a MSI K9A2 MB with Dual X6400 + CPU, 4GB RAM, XP Pro SP3 (32 bit), 4GB RAM and two Radeon 3450 HD crossfire cards. Standard video and music with no codec plays a 3 minute video file in about 15 seconds. I installed the divx version and tried the divx player and it played a full 1.5 hour movie in about 15 minutes. I have upgraded the drivers for the Radeon cards and went into the settingss and turned hardware acceleration down but everything is still too fast. Anyone has an idea on where to go from here? I work in the industry but just dont build custom PCs except when I need a new fast system. The X 6400 + isnt even showing any utilization when the video is being played. Dean |

Re: Help: New PC plays video/music way too fast
I solved the issue. It had to do with the audio driver. For some reason, the default audio drives were set to the Radeon cards. Once I upgraded the audio drivers and set the default audio to the Realtek HD drivers, all video (divx, xvide, wmv, dvds, etc) all play at normal speed with the sound perfectly in sync.
