BFG GeForce 8800GT gfx card - will not install
I have a new BFG GeForce 8800 GT graphics card which will not install no matter what I try.
I am trying to install it on an also-brand new mobo - OcUK Value IP35 Pro Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - but so far no luck at all. The card will give a basic display, but when I try to install the drivers from the installtion CD the splash screen starts up ok, then halts with an error "Installation could not find any compatible hardware" as if it just doesn't recognise the card We bought two of these cards, and the second gives exactly the same error as the first - I would have thought the chances of having two identically faulty cards to be slim. I am trying to install this onto a hard drive which has been formatted and reinstalled with a fresh copy of XP Professional, updates and Service Packs have also been downloaded. I have even tried downloading the drivers from the nVidia site - the version number is 175.16 dated 13/5/08 - however this also gives the same error. Please does anyone have any ideas at all that might help? I've been at this now for about 14 hours and I'm starting to go round the twist! |
