OS: win xp sp2

theres video but no sound
yes i installed a video card on a win xp sp2 hp desktop computer that i ordered from dell, i got video but no sound i dont think its compatible or not but it instructions say (win xp sp3) is that the problem i upgraded the pc to framework 2 & 3 and directx9 does anybody know what im doing wrong please help
