Re: need advice for Call of Duty 4 & video card upgrade

Hi, and welcome

We will first need to know the rest of the PC specs. most importantly the make and voltage of the PSU (power supply unit) and the make and model of the mobo (motherboard /mainboard).

Re: need advice for Call of Duty 4 & video card upgrade

I'd reccomend a 7950GT XFX 512 NVIDIA, i use it, and it runs call of duty 4 on full as in highest specs, and it is around a 100 dollars last time i checked, but in europe i think it should be around that price there too also, but im not sure if its compatible with your hardware though sorry, try asking the person that will supply you with the hardware you will buy, or wait for a hardware tech to check this thread out :).

My System

Re: need advice for Call of Duty 4 & video card upgrade

The 7950gt will not run on a 300w power supply.

Your system appears to use agp which is the older video card interface. Also the cpu is pretty low down there too at a single 1.7 ghz. You can get a new video card but the game play will be medium to slow at best.

But if you still want to upgrade it then you will need to get a low to midrange graphics card to run with your current power supply. Ati makes new agp cards so you will be going for a 2600 pro. Heres a link to a good one.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...073&CatId=2234

There are more powerful cards but you would need a more powerful power supply to support them.

Re: need advice for Call of Duty 4 & video card upgrade

hello emoson,

thank you for your advice

it is most welcome & imformative !!!

i was thinking that it was time to upgrade the whole system because it is an older pc ?? i bet he will be buying more games that will require more up grades but since the motherboard is the same age as the other componets it show it is time for a whole system upgrade

now it is time to discuss this with the wife & my son and then build another system

i just got done buildng my system for my needs wich dose not include playing video games

video games are not my choice of media !!! i listen to music !!!

so thank you very much once again

i may be back to get more advice on building this system once we get the talk out of the way

to the best of the web in forums & their people that help others ( i salute you all )
