computer slowing down after installing nvidia 8500GT

hey all,
couple days ago i installed two new hardwares (Linksys WMP300N, Nvidia 8500GT 512mb pci-e) since that the computer keeps freezing for a few seconds and works normal again this happens every time im trying to play music file or video file and even worst if im trying to play any game.

Virus protection: NOD32
Antispyware Protection AVG Anti-spywawre
computer was scanned with both software

computer spec.
emachines T6003

AMD Athlon 64
processor 3400+ 2.2GHZ
2GB RAM, 550W PSU,
Windows xp pro

Check that your PSU is capable of outputting the 26A on the +12V rail requirement for PCI-E graphics cards. eMachines' systems are notorious for bad PSUs.

You look on the psu sticker and it will show the amperage next to the voltages.

i installed a new PSU before installing the new card
PSU Spec.:
24A on the +12V rail 550W

is that the source of the problem?
