Question E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

I have an E-Machine T-3516 http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2078718,00.asp

I want to upgrade my video card to be able to play the newest and hottest games out(like the latest Halo, etc.)

What would be a good video card for my computer type?

Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

Please post your budget.

Since the machines psu won't handle high end graphics card you will be getting a midrange graphics card(in order to fit into your budget). Probably an 8600 or a 3650. Also I checked and does your machine still have the 512mb of ram and the celeron? Heres a better page for reference on your pc.

Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

Question: What is a psu? Are referring to my power supply unit?

Oh, and I'm still using the 512 MB of ram. But I plan on upgrading to 2x 1GB sticks of ram.

PS Thanks for previous advice.

Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

Yes you will definitely need two gb of ram. And yes psu stands for power supply. The celeron should also be changed if you want more speed out of it , but get the other parts first to see how it performs. Also please post your budget and i can help you find something.

Question Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

512 MB DDR SDRAM & CELERON D PROCESSOR. I need a video card that would be possible to play the latest HALO. Should I go with ATI or NVIDIA? Any recommendations?

Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

Quite honestly, if I were advising you, my recommendation would be that instead of spending a bundle of money on an emachines, that you might just want to wait a bit until you have some extra case and just build a new rig. If you are changing the PSU, changing the CPU, and upgrading ram, and also upgrading a video card, it might be more penny wise to just build from the ground up. emachines aren't made to upgrade with the basics they have on board IMHO.

Re: E-Machine Video Card Upgrade

Yea , I would buy a new computer. But if you don't want to then a lower end 8600 should work ok.
