Re: XP to XP MCE
Check you have the latest graphics drivers installed.
For clarification, what exactly did you recently do? Install XP MCE to dual-boot with Vista Home Premium, upgrade from XP to XP MCE, or do a fresh install of XP MCE? Also what are you trying to play; videos, games or something else? |

Re: XP to XP MCE
ok i got the media center to work by updating. it plays any video now. when i check the version on the media center itself it says 2005 edition. but when i check on the system on control panel it says 2002. now i have a new problem. i cannot install the media center extender. it says my media center needs to be 2005. but i think its 2005 but the system is not recognizing it.

Re: XP to XP MCE
MCE is based on XP Pro . . so the system will reflect the Operating System hence the 2002 ( when XP Came out ) . . IF the Media Center reports as 2005 it should be MCE 2005.
Have you installed all Microsoft updates . . particularly the MCE Rollup? |

Re: XP to XP MCE
That's probably the problem . . MCE was not ment to be an upgrade. You will probably have to back up your data ( which you have done as a matter of course, right?) and do a clean install
