HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
I was playing COD4, and the game freezed and I had to do a hard reset. After that I saw that in the event log there's a "nv4: infinite loop" error. Mouse cursor is sometime corrupted, XP loading screen is always corrupted, and worst of all, the card doesn't draw any 3D images now, not even the rotating nvidia logo in the Nvidia control panel. Please help!! Thanks in advance.
P.S: I tried unistall driver, reinstall driver, system restore, change memory slot. none of them worked. system config as follow: ASUS P5K Intel Q6600 Corsair TWINX 2G EVGA 9800 GTX Win XP SP2 |

Re: HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
Thanks for the reply. I have Antec Earthwatt 500W PSU which is included in sonata 3 case. And I just discovered that in Bios menu the little rolling bar also shows corruption. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
Thanks for the reply. I did all of the step you mentioned, no help. I also did a directdraw test without the driver, passed, and the 3d screensavers also works without the driver. Then I reinstalled the driver, directdraw test did not pass(no black and white squares), direct3d test and 3d screensavers hang the pc. As for PSU, i don't think that it's an issue, I checked the 12v rail voltage, it was 12.00XX V. Moreover, I remember that I've read a review of my PSU running 8800 SLI fine. again, any help would be appreciated.

Re: HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
I just had a full screen of garbaged image without nvidia's driver. Do you think this could be the video card's problem? I assembled the system just 2 days before the failure. maybe the graphic memory is bad? Thanks a lot. |

Re: HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
Hi, thanks for the followup. Everything is normal in dxdiag. Except that I can't run DirectDraw test nor Direct3D test. After I reinstalled the system completly, and only installed WinXP and graphic driver, the problem is still there. So I contacted EVGA support about this problem and apparently it's caused by a bug in bios which locks-up the fan speed at 35%, even during heavy gaming. So theres a big chance that the GPU and/or the memory got damaged by heat. Now I'm following the RMA procedure and I will keep the result updated here. Thanks.

Re: HELP! Geforce 9800GTX NO 3D
I have the same sort of issue. Did it turn out to be a faulty video card? I have 460watt powersupply but I have a 450 watt dedicated power supply made by visiontek. It just will crash randomly. In XP I was getting the infinate loop error and in vista I get a BSOD in the nvidia driver. It seems like I can play a while and its okay then tonight it would happen right away so I have no idea. I emailed evga support so waiting on their reply.
