Mistake vista+ati card problems! :(

oh, this is starting to tick me off, OK, basic problem. Also is there a thread already that has the info?

I have some kind of weird video problems that are random and have become very annoying lately!

Have 2 cards installed different times. Visiontek HD3850 512mb OC edition and Visiontek X1300 XGE 512mb. On an ASUS M2V/ 64 X2 4200+ AM2,
4gbs of ram, 500gb hd, 580 watt psu.

After I installed Vista Ultimate, I can't seem to get the video cards to be stable.

So If there is anything I can do to figure this out, im going back to XP pro x64, that os worked perfectly!

Re: vista+ati card problems! :(

You power supply only outputs 19A on the +12V rail. The Radeon HD3850 needs more than 24A to run.

Just go back to xp pro , vista's getting replaced by windows 7 anyways. No need for the headaches.

Re: vista+ati card problems! :(

Then explain why my X1300 XGE that doesn't require a +12v 24a rail does the same thing as well? Ive asked Visiontek and gave them the specs, they said it wasn't a power issue, but i'll do some more research!

Re: vista+ati card problems! :(

PCI-E requires 24A on the +12V rail to run properly. Your inability to run those cards stably on Vista might be because Vista renders its Aero theme on your graphics card, therefore stressing it more than XP. Do you get any problems when playing games on either OS?
