Re: does my video card fit my computer ?? please help

I'm afraid you're going to have to pop your machine open and see if you have an AGP slot. A 6600 GT requires an AGP slot. The specifications for your computer claim that you have an AGP slot but the specifications for the motherboard shows only PCI slots. Bugger! This page shows what the different kinds of slots look like so you can tell what you've got.

Re: does my video card fit my computer ?? please help

check the ram is seating ok don't rely on the clips clicking over it does not mean it is seated
is this the only ram you have in it
check the voltage range for the ram,you may need to lift it as some m/b's default at to low a voltage

Re: does my video card fit my computer ?? please help

you need to go to the makers site and look at the specs for the ram and check what the maximum voltage is for it
before trying to change it

Re: does my video card fit my computer ?? please help

I'd check the BIOS to see if it allows changing of RAM voltage before going to much trouble. This is an HP Pavilion and the BIOSes in those machines usually don't have stuff like voltage adjustments. It's worth a look but consider yourself very fortunate if it has one. Hit the F1 key when you see the first startup screen to get into the BIOS. Then you just navigate around and see if there's something about RAM voltage. You could also try slowing down the memory timings but if the BIOS doesn't support setting the RAM voltage then it probably won't allow you to adjust memory timings either.

Re: does my video card fit my computer ?? please help

alright thanks, well i went to that and all i found really was the name of my ram but nothing about ram voltage, i dont know if this helps but it says

BIOS core version V6.0

after AC power failure " something about that"

i dont know if any of that has to do with it but i didnt see the voltage..

and thanks by the way.

Those modules should run at 2.6V. Go into your BIOS and under something like "Advanced Chipset Configuration" there might be a setting that has something to do with RAM voltages.

That's rather unfortunate, just as UncleMacro predicted.

I just noticed that post. If you can boot with just a single stick of Corsair 512MB, I'd suggest downloading Memtest86 and testing each stick individually in RAM slot one. If you get any errors, it would either mean they're not getting enough power to run stably or the sticks are faulty (are they new?).

they are not brand new, they came out of my friends pretty fast computer, he broke something in it so thats why i have his ram. so they arent new but they worked in his, he has 2 more 512mb but they arent corsair, they are some other brand. And yeah i will try the memtest86.
