A Year of Display Problems

I bought my computer over a year ago and have had the same problems over and over. My monitor will just turn off, and say "no signal input, check video cable". This is the same message i get every time my monitor is turned on and then it works after about a second. It used to just happen when i was playing higher level games, but now it does it pretty soon after i try to boot up and i get to the windows page with the bar scrolling across. Also sometimes, usually the first time i try to boot it up a voice will say "VGA system failed" or something very close to that. If i can get my computer running, i can restart and run it for months, but if i turn it off, and then try to turn it back on again, the same old thing happens. I tried buying a new monitor, but it did the same thing. I do not want to keep buying new parts unneccesarily.
Asus A8V Deluxe
nvidia 6800 Ultra
2 512 OCZ RAM running duel channel
24in hanns g flat panal monitor
450W Ultra PS
AMD 3400+
All fans running well, including the one on my card

and so i just went downstairs to try again and it booted right up... without the CMOS battery! i had taken it out to let it cool and it booted up fine. but i know the problem is still there.
i aprecciate any help you guys can give me

Re: A Year of Display Problems

Try another more powerful PSU, see if it does the trick. The 6800 Ultra needs at least 18A on the +12V rail to run.
