Confused HELP! issue with graphics card and monitor

Hi to all

I have a tremendous problem.
since i bought my computer i had never done maintenance so after my mum started complaining about the comp bieng dusty (like the good boy i am) i had to do maintenance.
all went well as i cleaned my new nvidia geforce fx 5500 card, my mercury pvm7 3.1 motherboard, my harddrives, my mpaq psu 230v and my cd rom.
As i was cleaning i yhought maybe to clean the screen as well but i could not open it (SUPRISINGLY). so i made sure everything was in properly fitted and closed the comp but when i put it on the screen was a complete different colour.
So i found a way of opening it but there was nothing wrong with it ( it's a tft screen (flat screen) which im guessing is either a 15 to 20 inch) so i thought "let me check the graphics card" but yet again it was fine.
So after i put it back in and to my suprise now MY BLOODY KNOW WONT WORK !!!
So i thought since i have an in-built video card, i connected the monitor to it and it worked but the colour was still messed up.

im not a newbie at comps but at hardware i am quite a newbie, i only know my motherboard inside out otherwise newbie here.
to help these are my specs:
-1.2gb ram
-mpaq(mercury) psu 230v
-nvidia geforce fx 5500 (using the motherboards built in graphics card)
-xcess 15-20 inch tft monitor
-2 hardisks when combined makes 230gb
-3.2ghz

PLEASE help me because i've been across too much bad luck lately
any help given will be appreciated
yours handsomely
Zeprince

Re: HELP! issue with graphics card and monitor

Have you tried the monitor on another computer to make sure you didn't break the monitor when you opened it? You probably shouldn't have opened it, dust doesn't effect a monitors performance.

Re: HELP! issue with graphics card and monitor

no actually i have'nt but i will try it on my tv to see if it helps or maybe i should find a manual for my mercury mother board ( i maybe did'nt put everything in place) i've tried a number of solutions that did nothing so i've removed my graphics card and im using my inbuilt motherboards.
thanx emosun. my luck is i have finally got what i consider the funniest game WORMS:4 MAYHEM , the best rpg FINAL FANTASY 7 GOLD and quite a scary game F.E.A.R but just as im about to play bam my screen becomes
to colourful (blue is red and red is blue and white is what it wants to be).

thanx
