any games freeze

Ive been having an identical random freeze issue with both halo and halo 2. The freeze eventually releases itself and it does not crash the system, but it is damn annoying.

pc specs

asus crosshair
amd 64 x2 3000+
2gb kingston ram
pny verto nvidia 8600 gt w/256mb
vista 32 bit

Re: any games freeze

oddly the freezes only happen in campaign mode, not multiplayer on either game. are the graphics/cpu/video requirements heavier in camp mode? also im noticing that the longer i play the more frequent and the longer laster the freezes are.

Re: any games freeze

do you think it is a not enough power problem or a bad psu problem? I dont really have any other games to test, and it doesnt freeze at all when on the web and such. just a very strange problem if you ask me.

Re: any games freeze

12 v+ = 11.02
5v = 4.83
3,3v = 1.82

how can I be sure that my memory and 3d settings are not the problem. Kingston told me that my memory was intended for overclocked systems and gave me settings for the bios, but with those settings or the defaults my problem has not improved.

when i had problems with kingston they told me it was only manufactured for white boxes so i switched to corsair and sold off the kingston
the 12v+ line is down
i will stick with the psu upgrade

Re: any games freeze

is this a low quality psu or possibly defective? What wattage should i go for? The kingston issue surprises me esp with the heatsink on the memory and all. Then again the last system I built was an AMD 586 when MMX was first introduced.
