TV Tuner stopped working after Video Card upgrade
I have an SAA7130 TV Tuner card (PCI) that was working up till now. Before, I had an NVidia GeForce4 MX 420 (Also PCI), but today I installed an NVidia GeForce 7300 GS (PCI-E) in addition. I left the first monitor on the 420, and plugged another into the 7300, no problems. But the TV tuner (the software is honestech TVR) now shows only a grey-green image on either monitor, whether I go through the cable or the composite. The audio still comes through, so I think it's getting signal, just not sending it out through the cards. Repeated driver and software installs have produced no changes. If anyone has any advice, I would be most grateful.

Re: TV Tuner stopped working after Video Card upgrade
There used to be a problems on some older chipsets with hardware conflicts between graphics cards and TV tuners. The general fix was to install the graphics card in the slot closest to the CPU and the tuner in the slot furthest away, so try that first.
I suspect this might also be a power issue as PCI-E requires a lot more power than PCI. What PSU are you running? The 7300 should have two video outputs so I think it's much better to connect both your monitors to it and take out the MX420. You should be able to set it up with a single card through the NVIDIA Control Panel that's a part of the latest drivers. |
