[SOLVED] 7800 GTX tearing

Hi
I was wondering if you can help me i bought a new pc a few weeks ago and I get tearing on the screen whilst in games such as Counter Strike Source and World of Warcraft

My system specs are;
Asus P5N-E 650i sli motherboard
E2200 Core Duo sck 775 CPU
2 gig OCZ 6400 800mhz ramm
7800 GTX 256MB XFX model
and a Artic Power 500w which from reviews will power this system

In desktop I have no problems but when I go in to games the screen tears and gets worse and worse.

My temp for GPU is max at 54 deg inside my case which is low compared to most people with this card.

My framerate in game is amazing and quality is good but the tearing lets me down I have read many different forums saying the 7800 GTX has problems or glitching.

I have downloaded all the drivers needed and my bois is all upto date it is not OC at all and was just wondering if I had been unlucky and bought a damaged card.

Help would be greatly appreciated would save me lots of time of hassling the company for replacment if its the card in general.

Matthew

Also in Speedfan it shows no voltage on +3.3v rail
But then once i go in to Asus probe i have +3.31v on the rail
I dont know if this is a problem with either Speedfan or Asus Probe
Just a little but more info on my situation

Re: 7800 GTX tearing

when you say it gets worse and worse the longer you play that points to something overheating if its not the video care there is a good chance its the power supply being overworked

My friend said 2day it could be windows issues. I do not have heating issues and the power supply should be up as its not high resolutions and they not really hard games to run and i cant see how it could be that as another friend is running 2 8500GT in sli with a 500w power supply that came with his case ill write back to see if windows can help me lol :P

Re: 7800 GTX tearing

when you build a system you work out what psu it requires
then if the cash is short you downgrade something else not the psu
the 8500 in sli pull only half the wattage of a single 7800gtx

Re: 7800 GTX tearing

also on the subject 7800gtx was power hungry it takes more power then my 7900 gtx and thats only ~20 watts less then a 8800 gt

So the 7800 should have atleast a corsair 550 watt

Thanks i found out that the corsair 550 watt produces 41 amps one the + 12v rail which will power the 7800 gtx so glad i that you helped me figure out this problem.
