Re: Where To Find Vsynce On Ati Driver...
I haven't used the Catalyst Control Center for a while (I have .NET-o-phobia) but I know where it is in the ATI Control Panel. If you use Catalyst Control Center then it will probably be in a similar looking Window. So...
For the control panel version you bring up the advanced display properties (double-click "Control Panel", double-click "Display", select "Settings" tab, click "Advanced"). Then go to the "ATI 3D" tab. If I remember the Catalyst Control Center correctly it has a window labeled "3D" which is probably the same thing. There are separate settings for OpenGL and Direct3D. Select either OpenGL or Direct3D. Then put a check in the "Use custom settings" box and then click the "Custom" button. Then you'll see the "Wait for vsync" slider which I believe you move to the left to disable vsync. Last edited by UncleMacro; 04-24-2008 at 02:58 PM. |

Re: Where To Find Vsynce On Ati Driver...
Mine says "Wait for vertical sync" but it's an older driver because I'm running an older card. "Wait for vertical refresh" means the same thing.

I just choose a frame rate that gives me smooth enough play to keep me happy and then fiddle around with the screen resolution and image quality options to get the best image I can get at that frame rate. I usually end up reducing the screen resolution a notch and then increasing the full screen anti-aliasing because that looks the best to me. But some people do the opposite and run at higher screen resolution and disable full screen anti-aliasing. You can make the same tradeoff with the other options like texture quality and anisotropic filtering. |
