Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

Hi, I have been having problems with this card for about 3 weeks!

I bought it for a friends machine and it wouldn't work with his old Mb so i gave him my old card and took the 8800gt for myself.

I put it into my machine:
MB:
Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2
Cpu:
1.87Ghz Intel Core2duo
Ram:
2Gb ddr2

And low and behold nothing!

I though my measly 400w psu might be the problem so i bought a fancy 700w one.

Nothing!

I just want to know if it could be the monitor i Have an old XIOD crt thing.

Or of the card is not compatible with my motherboard or what!

Help please

Thank you!
Chris

Re: Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

Hi Chris, welcome to TSF!

SO whats the problem exactly? WHat is happening, BSOD, no boot, cant install driver etc..

Please also download PC Wizard and install it, go to FILE, SAVE AS and click ok. Then save the text file and copy that text into this thread. Also post what PSU you bought (brand and model).

Re: Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

I have the same exact motherboard and I think the board is pci-e 1.0a or b or whatever the revision was. Try downloading the latest bios here , the board supports the ati 3x series which only come in pci-e 2.0 so I'm assuming it supports 2.0 cards. It is a really weird motherboard.

Re: Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

that's why we recommend quality @ 65% 700 becomes 455 and cheap low quality you often find the 700 is the peak and they are actually rated as a 600=390

Re: Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

I see cheers, Is there anyway to tell if it is the power supply without having to buy a new one? Or is it just trial and error?

Re: Need Help 8800GT Super+ 1gb

i always recommend borrowing if possible before buying,if you have to buy then get one from a place with a restocking policy for a small percentage of it's cost
