While Playing Games, My PC Heats Up, Loses Its Monitor Connection, And Restarts.

Hello, I'm running a Radeon X1900 CrossFire Edition on my Windows XP Computer with service pack 2, and I simply cannot figure out why my computer does this to me. I have had minor graphics problems in the past, but none as serious as this. Also, every once in a while, my computer flashes a warning that the graphics card is getting too hot, leading me to believe that the excessive heat is leading to the disconnection of the monitor and eventual restart. I always tell it to re-clock itself in order to cool down the card, but it seems to have no effect. Any help with my problem would be greatly appreciated.

check the fan and surrounds is clear of dust and the fans working
what power supply are you running
brand
wattage
