Ive been trying to solve this problem for months, so any help at all will be very much appreciated. oki anyways, a few months ago I upgraded to the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT AGP. For the first few weeks it ran pretty nice actually, but after that for some reason it just decided to quit on me. When I tryed to startup my computer, it just seemed to be stuck in sleep mode, the LED light on the tower just flashed, and my screen remained black (no matter how long i left it running >.>); btw its totally locked, F8 = no go. But, it occasionly runs for me from time to time
. That is if I remove the card, and run my computer on the default adapter it came with for a day or 2; put it back in and suddenly it works (untill my computer shuts down again). I would also like to mention ive re-purchased this card as well; yet the problem remains . I have no idea what to do about this.

Re: ATI Card Failure
Does this card use a connector from the power supply? If it does try to make sure that the card is the ONLY device on that line. It's possible that the card is bad and it's possibly that the power supply is the culprit. We can start by isolating power to find out what's really going on.

Re: ATI Card Failure
thanks for replying ebackhus. Yes, the card does use a connecter from the power supply, and no its not the only device on that line. However I have tried to use it on a connecter where it is the only device, but with no change in results.

Re: ATI Card Failure
It's a stretch, but the power supply may be at fault in this case.

Re: ATI Card Failure
I think you might be right, cause ever since I bought my power supply its rattled like a lawn mower (seriously). Its always been realy loud, but the manufacturer claims that it should actually be quite silent >.>
