[SOLVED] ATI 3850 problems

I just reinstalled windows due to some issues booting, and now i can't use the 3850 i have installed. It shows up in every system info i can find, but it won't actually work.
It shows up in the device manager as "RV670", which i know is the chipset, but it was shown as "ATI radeon HD 3850" before the reinstall.

i've reinstalled all the drivers, for the record.

any ideas as to why it won't work?

Re: ATI 3850 problems

yes, there has been a performance decrease. No games were played here :(

and i think it might be because i didn't format the hard drive during the windows reinstall. i still have all the old folders, and two "WINDOWS" folders in C:, one of them "WINDOWS.0".

and seeing as not being able to boot with the 3850 connected was the reason for reinstall, that could have carried over in some way if it were a driver problem. Think that's it?

it was a boot from CD reinstall, but i can't remember if i selected "repair" or not.

Re: ATI 3850 problems

if it left your files intact it was a repair
when you reinstalled the drivers was it just the drivers or the complete drivers and software package

Re: ATI 3850 problems

Apparently your problem concern ATI drivers...

I can advise you to try driver cleaner and delete all files "ati", then setup cleanly ATI drivers:

Re: ATI 3850 problems

it's a normal desktop.
i'm pretty sure it's a driver issue.
i know there's a order to install, i've messed that up twice. (this computer and my laptop)

ok, got it.
i uninstalled the integrated video card (duh, didn't even think of that before), and now the screen's on when it's in the 3850. thanks for the help, now i just have to install drivers from the cd.
