PNY GeForce 7600 GS problem
I recently upgraded my graphics card, from a GeForce 5600 to a GeForce 7600, removed old card and its drivers, placed new card in PC. The problem is I cant install the drivers to the new card. When I run the installation I get this error message: "The Nvidia set-up program could not locate any compatible drivers with your current Hardware. Set-up will now exit"
I'm unable to install the drivers because no graphics card is detected. When I look for graphics adapters in device manger the graphic adapter tab is missing completely. The display properties show the only operating display adapter to be "Vgasave". Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: PNY GeForce 7600 GS problem
I'm having EXACTLY the same problem, although mine wasn't an upgrade.
I initially had no trouble at all with the 7600GS when I first installed it, but my PC encountered severe problems and I had to format the hard drive and re-install XP Pro (SP2). Since then, no matter what I try, the 7600GS WILL NOT work. I install it inside my PC, turn it on and I see the PNY copyright screen followed by the PC's initial boot. After that...nothing. XP does start up because I get the welcome 'fanfare' from my speakers a short while later. The above happens if I have my monitor plugged into the 7600GS's VGA output. If I plug my monitor into the onboard VGA output once the card is inside the PC, it gets no signal at all (no PNY copyright, no boot screen, no nothing). So, with my monitor plugged into the 7600GS's VGA ouput, I go into my BIOS and change the default VGA boot from AGP to Onboard so I can use the onboard VGA output even though the card is present. I get to my desktop and put the card's installation CD in. The installation program starts but in the 'Installed Graphics Adapter' window it says "None". When I try to install the drivers for the card regardless, it throws back the error message "The Graphics Adapter installed in the system is not compatible with the current set of drivers". I tried this morning to install the updated drivers I downloaded from NVidia as is (dated July '07) and was given a similar error message "The NVidia Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware" Any direction on this would be reallyappreciated. I e-mailed PNY's technical support two days ago and have heard nothing

Re: PNY GeForce 7600 GS problem
Thanks for your help, but the problem is solved now and my graphics card is back in and working as normal.
It was the onboard drivers that were causing the problem, they simply needed uninstalling completely rather than just disabling (which is what I swear I did before when the card went in fine). |
