Problem Conecting media Center PC to TV via HDMI

Hi
I've just bought a media center PC with a Nvidia 8800GT graphics card and i'm trying to connect it so my Sony Bravia KDF-E50A12U via Hdmi cable.
For some reason the TV just won't display a picture.
I tried hooking up a blu-ray dvd player via hdmi and that worked so theres no problem with the hdmi port. so i'm assuming the problem is my video card not sending the correct signal through. The tv supports 480i 576i 480p 576p 720p 1080i the problem is i can't adjust my display settings to any of these. I've got the latest Forceware drivers (169.25) and am using Ntune to set up the Display. Is there anything i'm doing wrong? and could someone please tell me if there is another way to set my graphics card to output at 1080i.
Any help is much appreciated!
