No display on newly built computer

I built my first computer last night and fired it up for the first time today. Everything seems to run well except there is no display on the monitor. All the fans run fine, including the fan on the video card. I had to use an included VGA to what I think is DVI converter though.

I'm using:

eVGA 680i SLI mobo

nvidia 8800 GT

HPw2207h LCD monitor.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: No display on newly built computer

Check the setup again and make sure there is no loose connections.

Try clearing the cmos and see if that helps solves you issues. Refer to the motherboard manual for the cmos jumper location.

Another thing, your problem could be a grounding issue. Do this, take out all of the computer parts outside the computer case and only re-seat the following parts:

Power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, and videocard.

Also boot the computer with only one stick of ram at a time.

See if this helps you out, good luck!!!

Re: No display on newly built computer

No beeps of any kind. I am pretty sure I somehow installed the mobo incorrectly and thats whats causing the problem. I should have just had directron build the thing for $27 but instead I wanted to be adventurous.

I have a Thermaltake 600w PSU that seems to power everything OK. I'm running a quad core 6600 cpu. I checked all my connections, memory, etc and that all seemed to be fine. I think maybe my mobo is touching the case somewhere. Ill probably end up taking it in and letting professionals fix it rather than me screwing it up any more.

Is it likely I have irreparably damaged my mobo if I did not install it onto the chassis correctly? None of the main components were damaged in any way that I can see. One thing I did notice, however, is that mobo jacks on the rear of the system are somewhat off-kilter of the i/o shield openings.

This would suggest that the motherboard is installed incorrectly. Did you use all the standoffs in the correct holes?

Re: No display on newly built computer

I used the stand-offs in the holes indicated by the key on the motherboard itself. The mobo is ATX and the case had a legend with the various holes labeled with numbers based on the form factor of the card (A1, A2, etc). All the screw holes in the board itself were used so I am pretty sure I got that part right at least.

I'm thinking that maybe the board wasn't mounted levelly, i.e. one of the stand-offs is higher or lower than the others. Not sure what else it could be as I am virtually positive I got the stand-offs in the correct holes.

Re: No display on newly built computer

have you pulled it apart to check that you have the correct amount no extras and they all line up with the holes
