Worth running sli?

This is my motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813130081

When run in SLI it only supports 8x per slot. Would it still be worth it buy a second card to run in SLI even though it wont utilize the whole 16 lanes? Thanks guys

Re: Worth running sli?

What card do you currently have?

SLI is nothing special, and is a waste of money IMO.

Re: Worth running sli?

I have an nvidia 8800 gts 320mb. So you think it would be better to just buy a better video card all together?

Re: Worth running sli?

What kind of performance do you want? That card already is doing pretty well imho. If you want better performance, I would wait until the high-end 9 series cards come out in a couple of months and buy one of those. SLI is a waste of money.

Re: Worth running sli?

Agreed, but what type of monitor do you have? Anything below 24", it is a waste of money to upgrade from the card you have. What are you other specs? Download PC Wizard from my sig and post yoru specs.

Re: Worth running sli?

For a 19 monitor, you have all you will ever need mate. No upgrade is useful in terms of GPU, until atleast next year (unless you want to play Crysis at maximum settings) lol.
