External PCI-E adapter/slot

I've just bought, ATI Radeon X1600 XT 256 MB PCI-E DVI VGA Card:

Very nice card but I can't use it.

Before buying it, I did not check its dimensions and my desktop dimensions.
I have a slim type desktop (about 4" depth) but the card width is about 4.5".
When I put the card in the PCI-E slot, I can not close the desktop.

I can not return the card because I opened it.

Not sure what to do.

Question is - is there some kind of external PCI-E adapter/slot into which I can plug the graphic card I bought outside the computer and then connect that external PCI-E adapter/slot with a cable to the PCI-E slot on my motherboard.
Buying new desktop or leaving it open is not an option.
Thanks

Re: External PCI-E adapter/slot

Ive never heard of an external PCI-e slot. You could always buy a new case, and put everything in there.
