[SOLVED] ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT and blue screen
Heya, I tried searching for this problem and found some threads that had some info how to fix it, but I tried and didn't get any to work so I'll post here and see if you have anything special.
Three months ago, my computer started hanging up when playing fullscreen games. I ignored the problem and it became a bit worse. I started now getting blue screen problems when I launched games. It didn't happen every time so I just went to restart my computer and try again. It got even worse and my screen had lines and dots all the time, even when I restarted, they showed up even in BIOS. I did some searching and came to conclusion that my video card had overheated and melted or something. My computer is almost 3 years old now (2,5 back then), so it was a bit strange. Well, I went and bought a new pci card, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, as it was about as good as my old one, from what I read. Installed it and my computer launched ok. However, I was still experiencing a blue screen problem. This blue screen has now became annoying, I'm getting it almost every time I try to play something. Also, I'm getting 2 different alerts when restarting my computer, before loading windows... I don't know if these have anything to do with my problem, but here they are anyway: I/O card parity interrupt at C0000:0C65. This one tells me press R to restart, S to shut down or any other key to continue. Whatever I press, nothing happens, the computer freezes. I have to turn off power and power back on. This happens rarely. I tried searching information about this and I think it has something to do with my video card, not sure. System battery voltage is low I'm not sure how this affects anything, so I've just ignored it. And finally, the bluescreen error I have: error happens in Win32k.sys Address BF89412B base at BF800000, datestamp 45f013f6 STOP:0x00000050 and this kind of things 0x369FB304 (this part changes and there are several 0x things). I have DELL Dimension 8400 INTEL(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 1 GB Ram Windows XP Home Edition SP 2 ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (256MB I think) My old pci-e card was: 256MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 GTO So, please help me! This is getting annoying and I don't know what to do. I've ran several tests using DELL diagnostics, but nothing came up. I didn't run the long (memory?) tests that would've taken over 1 hour to complete. |

Re: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT and blue screen
Welcome to tsf. Download speedfan in my sig and post back with your voltages. Also when you got the new card , did you uninstall the nvidia drivers before installing the ati ones? Do you have the latest drivers for the card and motherboard? Do you have the latest bios version? Your problem sounds like a whole bunch of small things put together.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT and blue screen
Oooh, I followed the instructions on top of this board about troubleshooting. Got newest motherboard chip, then uninstalled my old drivers (from both pci cards. I didn't realize I have to uninstall them) and installed the newest drivers again. I guess the old drivers were causing the problem.
It has worked well now for trying to run 4 different games, which is a new record! Normally I just crash. Thanks! I'll come back if the problem appears again. |
