CRT invalid display type crashing my PC

Hi all,

Let me first explain my issue, which is by the way pretty strange. I own a Radeon 9600 PRO 256 MB from PowerColor. I´m also using a ASUS MyCinema P7131 TV tuner card. Every time I start the PowerCinema 5 application to watch TV, the entire screen freezes momentarily every 1/2 seconds, then comes back fine for 2 seconds, then freezes for half-second, then comes back fine for other 2 seconds, then freezes again, and so on in a cycle...Like hearbeats...It finally crashes the PC after some time.

The following issue is observed in the event viewer (in Spanish, if translation is needed, let me know):

Tipo de suceso: Error
Origen del suceso: ati2mtag
Categoría del suceso: CRT
Id. suceso: 45062
Fecha: 04/03/2008
Hora: 21:44:38
Usuario: No disponible
Equipo: KRAXX-4B44B2
Descripción:
CRT invalid display type
Datos:
0000: 00 00 00 00 01 00 5a 00 ......Z.
0008: 2c 00 00 00 06 b0 00 c0 ,....°.À

0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

This event makes my computer crash, and I´m forced to press the reset button, since ctrl+alt+delete does not do anything. I did a downgrade to Catalyst 7.6, as per the following ATI release note:

Symptoms:

When a digital panel connected to the graphics card the Windows system log will show the error CRT invalid display type, the source is ati2mtag. This occurs with Catalyst 7.7 and higher

Solution:
This error will not cause any issues to the system or performance. If you do not want to see the error, the workaround is to install Catalyst 7.6.

Here right now, the CRT error no longer shows up in the event viewer (because I did the downgrade just 2 hours ago) but the issue is still present.

The problem happens only when I open my CyberLink PowerCinema in order to watch TV, based on my observations. I have been using PowerCinema for a long time with the same video card and started to get this problem around a week ago. I´m sure I can reproduce this problem while I open PowerCinema, and start changing channels in it.

Here, my PC finally crashed that day. Right now, I do not see these errors anymore because I loaded Catalyst 7.6 (as per release notes), however I still see the same problem...

I have done the following things:
1. Upgraded to the latest driver release for my ASUS TV tuner card.
2. Loaded 7.6 Catalyst drivers.
3. Re-installed PowerCinema 5.

Can someone help me debug this issue further? I´m 100% sure this is a video card issue, but I don't know what is causing this behavior. I tried contacting ATI support, but it has been a complete waste of time :(

Any help or guidance here will be appreciated.

PD: I can fully reproduce this problem...
