running crysis

It says i need at least an 8x dvd drive. I do the online crysis test to see if i can run it, and my dvd drive is the only thing that fails. Crysis does run on my computer, but if i get an 8x or higher dvd drive, will the game run a lot faster?

specs:
P4 3.0ghz
700w psu
2gb ram
8800gts 320mb

No, things like the dvd drives do not factor in when your looking for a performance increase. Things like your cpu , ram , video card are what matters mostly. And from your specs, the pentium 4 is the slowest part on your pc. The single core of the pentium 4 really slows down crysis speed, pretty much any dual core has an advantage over high power single cores.

Basicly if you want better crysis speed , a new dvdrom isn't going to do anything really. what you should get is a newer cpu, or a newer video card such as the g92 version of the 8800.

its a toss up,but personally id say that pentium 4 is your biggest bottleneck.
