What temperature is too hot exactly?
I'm running an 8600 GT on idle at 62° Celcius (146° Farenheit) and it increases to about 75° Celcius (167° Farenheit) while gaming (BioShock specifically). My two other harddrives are currently idle running at 48 and 53 Celsius. Am I right in thinking that temperature is too high? Also I ordered a new PSU and it's arriving in a few days, will that fix my overheating issue? Should I do any gaming for over a half-hour while my video card does not have a good enough PSU to supply it?

Re: What temperature is too hot exactly?
I would not run this rig with the 305 watts that you have listed, unless this is a major brand power supply. Many of the off brands (don't know what you have) don't put out nearly what they say they do. Some in this category only put out about 200 watts when they begin to heat up like the inside of a computer case. What happens, is that if you are underpowered, that can also damage other components of your computer.
The bare minimum of that cards requirements are 300 watts minimum if my memory serves me correctly. You have that minumum if it is a great power supply. Also, IMHO, your temps are too high for at-rest for that GPU. Part of that might be attributed to an underpowered PSU, but that might not be the whole problem you are seeing. Those temps are not dangerous for the GPU, but certainly more than I would like to see if that was in my rig. When you get your new supply (hope you ordered a good one that is a brand name), then you can evaluate what needs to be done.

That's my power supply. I'm pretty sure it'll get the job done. I just hope I don't break anything before I get it running the power supply that I already have.

Re: What temperature is too hot exactly?
First of all, that is a great power supply that you ordered...makes me proud of your choice.
My advice, wait until you get the new and great power supply and then we can look at any remaining issues.
