The new Nvidia 9600GT

Ive been reading up on the new 9 series from Nvidia, i was expecting better from them. I thought it was going to be the new card to play Crysis on VeryHigh without OCing. But it seems the 9600GT barely compares to the latest 8800GTS 512mb.
Is this card for budget gamers that like the graphics of a game but dont want the whole jar.

Re: The new Nvidia 9600GT

they did a better job matching the profomance of the mid with the last gens high end series then they did before (my 7900 is still giving the 8600 a beating)

Re: The new Nvidia 9600GT

It just seems like a high-end 8600 in a new wrapper. Nvidia is trying to get a little more money off us.

Re: The new Nvidia 9600GT

The 9600 is there new mid range card. The 9800 which will be out very soon is 30% faster then any 8800. even the ultra . btw karlos , you and me have the exact same number of posts , weird

no doubt about it my 9600gt smokes the old g80 gts.using the settings that i have on crysis the g80 could only play at 1280x768 before turning into a slide show.with the 9600gt i can run the same settings at 1440x900 and it stays smooth.

just to add it also runs much cooler.i dont have anything currently to check its temp, but the overall temps in my microfly are alot cooler now.with the g80 in there you could place your hand around the psu fan,or exhaust fan on the back.the air was very warm with the g80.now with the 9600gt the air coming out of my micro box feel hardly above room temp.

edit:just a little update got riva tuner 2.07.idle temp on this card is 47c,and load temp with crysis is 64c.keep in mind this is in a ultra microfly case.a large case this thing would be extremely cool running.
