a slight Capture Card problem
I hope this is the correct forum to ask this. First of all, I made a video about my problem and here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xsd9zxW8Of0
I asked about this on another forum and someone replied saying the input I'm used to is Composite Video with the Red, White and Yellow cables. but the one on my new TV is called Component Video. Instead of having Red, White and Yellow sockets, there are Red, Blue and Green ones. So, the thing is, I can get my DVD player and Video player to show up on my computer. But most of all, I want to be able to record video game footage. Now, I need to plug those into my TV via scart, so I can't plug the cables from my Capture Card into another scart, and plug that in, because I can't have two scarts running at the same time, as they're on seperate channels. So what do I do, please? |

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Ok I looked at your video and your trying to use composite on a tv that only has component and vga inputs. But if you want to record you video games footage , theres a real easy way. Download a program called fraps. It has an option to record your screen and save it right to your hdd.

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Um, you do realise I want to record video games footage from my TV such as PS2 etc. How am I supposed to record my TV screen from a program on my computer?

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Oh, I'm sorry I thought you wanted to record pc games. You can use windows movie maker to record video from video inputs on your pc. Just open movie maker and go to the sidebar and hit "capture from video device". Then just select your input, would probly say composite since your using a composite cable.
Now as far as plugging the other end of the cable into something. Whats everything plugged into now? Do you have your ps2, dvd player, ect, plugged right into the tv?

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Okay, I'll explain how I used to have it set up and to how it is now.
On my old TV, it had a scart socket at the back, and in the front was a Yellow, Red and White socket. Then I had a cable with those red, yellow and white cables at each end - one end went into the front of my tv and the other end went into the back of my computer, into my capture card. Now, when I had the PS2 on the scart, and those cables in the front, I could record it on my computer, watching it on there OR my TV. This way, worked perfect. Thing is, that TV went bust as it was very old so I recently got a new one, HD and a lot newer than my old one. So, I still have that cable plugged into my capture card, but now I have nowhere to plug it into, on my TV as there's no sockets to plug them into, seeing as it's changed since. My old TV being composite and my new one being component - so I have no wires for my component TV. So I'm wondering, what do I need to get so I can accomplish what I had on my old TV, with my new one? |

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Ok what outputs are on the tv total, I can't see if those are outputs or inputs. Also, I just did a wiki on what a scart was, what a weird connector.
From the looks of it the tv doesn't have any outputs and since your ps2 can only go into the scart port, I can't really think of how you would hook it up like you had it.

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Okay, sorry I didn't reply in some time, but I asked around in shops and there's no possible way to connect my PC Capture Card directly to my TV to record the screen. However, it just so happens that my DVD player isn't working, nor is my VCR anymore - so, I'm going to buy a DVD/VCR combo which has both composite and component ports.
So. My question is; could I plug my PS2/Wii or whatever, into the back of the DVD/VCR through scart, then an aerial from the DVD/VCR to my TV so I'm able to record the game onto VHS or DVD, then take the composite wires from my Capture Card and plug them into the Composite sockets on the DVD/VCR to see the game on the screen, also? If you don't understand any of it, please say and I'll explain it further. I really need a fast answer, because I wanna get the player before they run out of stock x__x |

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
If you can find a dvd/vcr with a scart inpput then I would plug the ps2 into the dvd/vcr, then connect the dvd/vcr to the tv via a coax cable , then connect the dvd/vcr to the pc via the component out.

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
But, I can't plug the Component output into the PC, otherwise there would be no need for the DVD/VCR combo. It's only a lead with Composite sockets on the end, where I plug a Composite cable into there.

Re: a slight Capture Card problem
Hm, I don't know what a coax cable is, nor do I think I have one either.
And, I think the Composite sockets I have are input, since they're in the front and the Component sockets are in the back, saying output. |
