eVGA 8600 GTX texture problems
This is the link to where I got my card. I am pretty sure that is the exact card.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130286 I (and my brother) built this computer about half a year ago. It was running perfectly fine until a few months ago where some odd texture issues in some games started showing up. I was playing a space MMO called EVE Online, where out of nowhere all my texture went crazy. It's like my computer selected a random texture from the game files and decided to display it in a random place. Character and icon images were on a planet, sometimes my ship. Even the sky box would go crazy. They recently upgraded their graphics (it's an older game), and I thought that would fix it, however it did not. It has since spread to other games now. EVE Online, Stronghold 2, and now Warcraft III. Warcraft is one of my favorite games, and it really upsets me that this problem is now effecting that game as well. Here are some screenshots from EVE. http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/1...4170953ha7.jpg http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8...6053518hs4.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/8...6053613uw1.jpg http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4...6053848bf9.jpg I didn't want to update my drivers just yet. I searched around and found a few people who had this problem with Flight Simulator 9. Most of their solutions were trashing the nVidia card for ATI, or switching to older drivers. Switching to older drivers (or newer ones) sometimes resulted in the problems changing or getting worse. So, am I alone, is there any hope for me without spending hundreds of dollars for a new card? Thanks. |

Re: eVGA 8600 GTX texture problems
As I stated in my first post, many people (even more than I originally thought now that I have researched it more) have their problems worsen when they update their drivers.
I keep finding people with this problem, but every time I do their questions remain unanswered, or if it is, it's someone else saying they have it too. I am wondering if it could be heat damage, a virus, or a compatibility issue (since I built my computer). |

Re: eVGA 8600 GTX texture problems
the matrix online is having a big indoor lag problem with the 8xxx series video cards and xp.
and a texture problem with the 8xxx series and vista so it might be the coding with older games aswell as somebody screwed up somewhere from the 2 or both companies which is really bothering me on getting a new computer and playing games atm |

Re: eVGA 8600 GTX texture problems
Well I broke down and updated my driver. I figured I didn't have much to lose.
So far, a strange bug for Call of Duty 4 has been fixed. It used to be that whenever anti-aliasing was disabled, it would "over-bloom" most of the screen would turn light. I tested it and it doesn't do it any more. On EVE, a shadowing setting that used to drop my fps to 10 in certain areas, doesn't do it any more, not i get 60-70 fps there. A bug that just popped up today for EVE is gone too (error every time it closes). I'll let some time go by and see if any problems pop up, but so far so good. Thank you for the help, it is greatly appreciated. |
