Need help for buying cards for SLI
I recently purchased a [b]XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog edition video card (the pre-overclocked one with the Company of heroes game included)
I want to add another card into my pc for SLI and I understand I have to get the same card for it to work (I guess) so I'll be getting two of these cards... OR I have been wondering about returning the 8800 GT Alpha Dog edition and buying two BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC Video cards, my main reason is temperature,I think that this card will have better cooling than my XFX 8800GT, but i'm not sure which would be a cooler card...that's my first question. And overall is the BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC Better than the XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog edition? (including when it's in SLI config) |

Re: Need help for buying cards for SLI
Do you have the power supply to support this kind of setup? As for the card you get make sure its the g92 with pci-e 2.0 version. Those old style 8800's that are the 640mb or the 320mb are not worth it anymore. Also from all the video's iv'e watched sli with an 8800 doesn't really look any faster then when you have a single 8800.
Not to mention that you should wait for the 9 series. No reason to get dual 8800's when 1 9800 will blow them away, they'll be out in a few months.

yea my power supply is SLI ready and your right I should just wait for the 9800 series. hmmmm I wish I could just get a 9800 series and hook it up to the 8800 card....but SLI doesn't work that way...

Re: Need help for buying cards for SLI
The power Supply is a "Rocketfish 700W PC Power Supply" I don't know the model...I think there is only one kind...but the part number is RF-700WPS. I got it at a great price (I work at Future shop) otherwise I would have gotten a Modular power supply (by Ultra)
