so geforce 8600gts has a 4pin connection..need adapter

so the graphics card I have (Geforce 8600 GTS) has a 4 pin(male) additional power adapter on it. Here's my problem- my power supply only has PCIE cables that are 6 to 6 and (1) thats a 6 to 8 cables. I can only find adapters that go 6 pin to 4 pin male, But I need a cable that has a 6 pin to plug into the psu, and then a 4 pin FEMALE on the other end to plug into the graphics card, I've looked all over and cant really seem to find anything...

Get a molex splitter. Split off of your harddrive, or cdrom drive, or
possilby one for your case fans, usually they will supply the splitter.
Its ok to do this, I would split off of the cdrom drive myself, but
it really shouldnt matter, hope your power supply is up to it,,

Psu should be ok, best buy or one of your local pc repair shops
should have the connector. Pretty common item, call around.

Re: so geforce 8600gts has a 4pin connection..need adapter

Hi there, first off I just wanna say hello all

Anyway, I just recieved my 8600 GTS (ebay) today except i don't have a PCI-E port. Are there extensions for PCI's to make them work with PCI-E's or do I have to get a whole new mobo or something?

You may have noticed i dont know anything about vid cards. Any help appreciated.

You should start a new thread, but the answer is you will need a mobo
to support your pci-e card.
