7900gs

My choice was between a 7900GS (high end, last gen) or a 8600GT (medium end, this gen).

Seems that the 7900GS is a better card.
Where should i buy it from?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814141041
It is at Newegg for 150ish dollars. Is that good? Any other places?

Thanks ~~

Re: 7900gs

Buying parts from ebay makes me a little nervous. Especially (the one you linked me to) because some are already opened!

Re: 7900gs

yes there is some additional risk, however go for someone with 100% positive feedback and 30 or more feedback points. It will be fine.

Re: 7900gs

Look around and try and get a BFG. I am pretty sure you can unlock pixel pipelines on it using rivatuner to make it a 7900GT. It will also overclock like all hell. Expect about 6000 in 3dMark06. good luck mate.

Re: 7900gs

Buy Galaxy 7900GS Premium Zalman edition.
Without unlocking pipelines you can overclock better than a 7900GT.

The 7900GS with unlocked pipes, is a 7900GS still and will overclock the same. It will just have the same number of pixel pipes as a GT. The BFG is the only 7900GS that can do this.
